King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark have celebrated Ólavsøka with a special post on social media.
Their Majesties took to Instagram to write a message and share photos to mark the national holiday of the Faroe Islands – a territory of the Danish kingdom.
They wrote on Instagram, “Happy Olai to all the Faroese people. We know how much the national holiday means. That families and friends gather, and that many travel home to celebrate Olai. We wish you all wonderful days, no matter where you celebrate them.”
The message was written in both Danish and Faroese.
They also shared two images from the couple’s trip to the territory in June 2025.

As the Faroe Islands are part of the Danish kingdom, King Frederik and Queen Mary are also the King and Queen of the Faroe Islands, which are located in the North Atlantic Ocean.
