Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg visited the Beieschoul (bee school) in Wiltz.

The bee school in Wiltz is a place for training and raising awareness about beekeeping. The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess were accompanied by Minister Martine Hansen during their visit to the school. The visit marks the school’s 140th anniversary.

The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess were dressed appropriately in protective clothing as they learned more about beehives and the practice of beekeeping. They spoke about the essential role of bees and other pollinating insects.

Bees are under threat from the spread of the Asian hornet, several parasites, climate change and the use of pesticides. Our food security and biodiversity depend on preserving pollinators and their natural environment.
