The Prince of Wales admitted he was “gutted” after England’s elimination in the World Cup.

After England lost at the hands of Argentina in Atlanta, Georgia, Prince William made a personal post on the Kensington Palace X account.

He wrote, “Gutted. England, you gave it everything and we are all so proud of you.

“Thank you to everyone on and off the pitch, for an incredible tournament. The fight and belief you have shown has inspired us all. The most complete England team in a tournament. Hold your heads high.”

His post included the English flag and was signed with a ‘W,’ which indicates a post is directly written by him.

The Royal Family’s X account also shared a supportive message for the English team after the loss, “Commiserations to Harry and the team. While you Three Lions may be licking your wounds today, you remain the pride of a nation – and will rise again.”

England will now face France for third place, while Argentina goes on to face Spain in the final on Sunday, 19 July. It’s been reported that King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía will cheer on the Spaniards in the United States.

England will play France on 18 July in Miami, Florida.
