Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, may be briefly released from prison to visit his sick mother.

He is currently awaiting the verdict in a criminal case against him.

A similar request made by Marius had been rejected, but the Norwegian prison system has now offered to accompany him. The public prosecutor told TV2 that they would have no objections if prison staff escorted him. “We also view that as a good solution,” the public prosecutor told TV2.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, and her health has recently taken a turn for the worse. She has been placed on the waiting list for a transplant.
