Elke Büdenbender is the patron of UNICEF Germany, and in that capacity, she is visiting the UNICEF Supply Division in Nordhavn. This humanitarian warehouse has been in Denmark since 1962 and is the largest of its kind. It plays a crucial role in ensuring the rapid delivery of life-saving emergency equipment.

Queen Mary most recently met Mrs Büdenbender during the 2024 accession visit to Germany. King Frederik and Queen Mary were received in Berlin by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Mrs Büdenbender.
