The Princess Royal has attended the dawn service at Wellington Arch in Hyde Park Corner.
Anzac Day commemorates the 1915 Gallipoli landing of Australian and New Zealand troops during the First World War. The service was organised by the New Zealand and Australian High Commissions.
Princess Anne took part in the 5 a.m. service, and she placed a wreath of poppies against Wellington Arch. During the service, “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae was read out, and the national anthems of the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia were played.
At the same time, commemorations took place across Australia, New Zealand and Gallipoli.
