Planning is underway for Princess Aiko to visit Singapore this autumn.

Princess Aiko of Japan (24) is expected to pay an official visit to the Republic of Singapore later this year. According to informed sources, arrangements are currently underway for the Princess to visit the country in November to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Singapore.

During her visit, the Princess Toshi is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and attend various celebratory events to be held in the country. Last spring, the Princess toured the Singapore Pavilion at the World Expo held in Osaka.

This upcoming visit will mark Princess Aiko’s second official overseas trip, following her highly acclaimed visit to Laos last year. The most recent visit by a Member of the Imperial Family to Singapore was Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko in 2006 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
