An unusual development for the much-anticipated state visit to Japan.

The Royal News Organisation has learned, via Nippon, that the UAE’s state visit to Japan, scheduled for later this month, will be postponed. It is understood that the reasoning for the unfortunate delay is due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

It was announced last December that His Highness Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, would make a state visit to Japan from the 8th to the 10th of February. Engagements included an official welcoming ceremony and state banquet hosted by Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako at the Imperial Palace.

This visit was much anticipated by many as the diplomatic red carpet had not been laid out in Tokyo since 2019 when the U.S. President made such a state visit.

We still have yet to receive any official word of the postponement from the respective Houses. It remains to be seen what will transpire. There was a similar incident last year when the President of Portugal had to postpone his state visit to Spain due to emergency surgery. The state visit was rearranged as an official visit for later this week.

The Royal News Organisation will keep you up to date with all future announcements regarding the postponed state visit.
