The funeral plans for Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark have been announced by the Greek Royal Family.

Princess Irene’s funeral will take place at noon on Monday, 19 January, in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens.

Her Royal Highness will then be buried in the Tatoi Royal Cemetery, where other members of the Greek Royal Family are buried, including her older brother, King Constantine II, and her father, King Paul.

The Princess will lie in repose in the Chapel of Saint Eleftherios from 8:00 am to 10:30 am before her funeral.

King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofía and Queen Sofía of Spain are confirmed to attend the service alongside the Greek Royal Family.

Princess Irene is the youngest child of King Paul and Queen Frederica. Her older siblings were King Constantine of Greece and Queen Sofía of Spain. Her nephew is the reigning King Felipe of Spain.

She died peacefully on 15 January at 11:40 local time in Madrid’s Zarzuela Palace with her family beside her.
