Princess Ingrid Alexandra calls Bondi Beach attack “unimaginable”

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway has called the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Australia “unimaginable.”

The Princess, who is studying at the University of Sydney but is on Christmas break, told Norwegian broadcaster TV 2 that the attack on Jewish people marked the first night of Hanukkah, “unimaginable.”

The future Queen of Norway said, “My thoughts are with those who have lost someone and with the Jewish community, both in Australia and back home in Norway.”

The 21-year-old has loved her time in Sydney and added, “So it’s a bit strange and unimaginable that it happened there.”

Princess Ingrid Alexandra began studying social sciences at the University of Sydney in the autumn.

Her grandfather, King Harald, released a condolence message to the Australian government and people a few days ago. He said, in part, “I was deeply saddened by the news of the terrorist attack outside Sydney yesterday, which claimed so many lives. Once again, an innocent Jewish community was targeted.”

Two ISIS-linked men perpetrated a mass shooting targeting Jewish people on the first night of Hanukkah at the famous Bondi Beach on 14 December. At least 16 people, including one of the terrorists, were killed, with many more injured.
