Prince of Wales to travel to Brazil for Earthshot

The Prince of Wales will travel to Brazil for The Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony in Rio de Janeiro.

The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 5 November

Prince William will also undertake a number of engagements related to the environment. He will also participate in events held in Rio de Janeiro, connected to the Earthshot Prize and the Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife program, between Monday, 3 November, and Wednesday, 5 November.

Ahead of the ceremony, the 15 Finalists who are in the running to receive five £1 million prizes are announced.

There are five categories: Revive Our Oceans, Fix Our Climate, Build a Waste-Free World, Protect and Restore Nature, and Clean Our Air.

For Protect and Restore Nature, the finalists are:

1. re.green, Brazil
2. Tenure Facility, Global
3. Tropical Forest Forever Facility, Global

For Clean Our Air, the finalists are:

1. The city of Bogotá, Colombia
2. The city of Guangzhou, China
3. The State of Gujarat, India

For Revive Our Oceans, the finalists are:

1. Matter, UK
2. Bonds for Ocean Conservation, Global
3. The High Seas Treaty, Global

For Build A Waste-Free World, the finalists are:

1. ATRenew, China
2. Quay Quarter Tower, Australia
3. Lagos Fashion Week, Nigeria

For Fix Our Climate, the finalists are:

1. Form Energy, USA
2. Barbados, Barbados
3. Friendship, Bangladesh
