Princess Anne visits The Naval Children’s Charity

The Princess Royal has visited the Naval Children’s Charity in Portsmouth to celebrate its 200th anniversary.

The Princess spoke to families and shared her personal experiences with school and the military.

Princess Anne, one of the hardest-working members of the Royal Family, delivered an impromptu speech during her visit to praise the staff and families for their work and the support they provide.

“This is about families of people who serve and that is a difficult relationship sometimes, but it needs to be remembered and is at the forefront of what you do. When you’re as scattered as the Naval families are, that can be a real challenge in a way that nobody else quite has…thank you for maintaining that link,” she said.

Her Royal Highness was gifted merchandise during the celebration, and in typical Anne fashion, joked that the child’s apron would not fit her.

“It might fit my grandchildren, they all cook actually,” she said.

CEO Clare Scherer told the Princess that an adult apron was also included.

Anne is the proud grandmother of Savannah and Isla Phillips from her son, Peter, and Mia, Lena and Lucas Tindall from her daughter, Zara.

Princess Anne became patron of the charity in March 2025, following in the footsteps of her mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

This was her first visit to the organisation since becoming patron.
