Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia are currently on a state visit to Egypt from September 16 to 19.
The King and Queen are in Egypt on the invitation of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi; they have been accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, and the Secretary of State for Trade, María Amparo López Senovilla.
They began the state visit by hosting a reception for the Spanish community in Egypt at The St. Regis Cairo Hotel. The King addressed the community, saying, “Spain and Egypt share a desire that we firmly hold: for peaceful coexistence, dialogue, and reconciliation in the Middle East that will finally allow for a stable environment for the development of peoples with dignity and justice. At the moment, it seems like a utopia, but it must be possible, and we must all contribute to making it so.”
On the second day of the visit, Their Majesties laid flowers at the Memorial to the Martyrs of the Armed Forces in a ceremony where both the Egyptian and Spanish national anthems were played.

The official welcome occurred in the afternoon when the President and First Lady Entissar Amer El-Sisi greeted King Felipe and Queen Letizia at Al-Ittihadiya Palace.
The King and President then held a bilateral meeting while the First Lady and Queen spoke before a luncheon for the quartet.
King Felipe visited the Egyptian House of Representatives to meet with Egyptian officials and was presented with the Parliamentary Gold Medal engraved with his name.
The state visit’s aim is to strengthen the ties between the two countries. The President travelled to Spain in February 2025.
