The Spanish Royal Family has attended the Princess of Girona Awards in Barcelona.
King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía attended the awards in the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona on 23 July.
The family attended the annual event that honours young people in various categories.
The winners included Manuel Bouzas Barcala, an architect, educator, and curator; Valentina Agudelo, Colombian entrepreneur; Andreu Dotti Boada, civil engineer; Antoni Forner Cuenca, chemical engineer and principal investigator; Gabriela Asturias, Guatemalan scientist, physician, and entrepreneur; and Pablo Sánchez Bergasa, founder and director of the NGO Medicina Abierta al Mundo (Medicine Open to the World).
After the presentation of the awards, the Princess of Asturias and Girona spoke a few words before her father, the King, took to the stage.
King Felipe praised the youth’s talent, saying, “When we trust in young talent, wherever it comes from, it finds its way and has the power to transform the present; and to do so from fields as diverse as art and culture, entrepreneurship and innovation, or research and science.”
Afterwards, the Royal Family greeted the guests and chatted with the winners.
