Queen Margrethe II of Denmark will help create a new ballet for Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.
She will do this alongside Phillip Faber and Tobias Praetorius. Tivoli Gardens will stage a new adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s Clumsy Hans. Tobias Praetorius will be responsible for the choreography, while Phillip Faber will compose the score. Queen Margrethe will design the sets and the costumes.
This will be Queen Margrethe’s ninth set design for a show at Tivoli Gardens.
The new ballet will premiere on 22 June 2024.
Queen Margrethe said, “I have tried my hand at producing performances for the Pantomime Theatre before and have a good sense of what thrives on that intimate stage. I am looking forward to starting this process with the other talents behind the production. The tale of Clumsy Hans bursts with possibilities. He’s an irresistibly lovable character, offering us rich opportunities to explore on stage. I am hopeful it will turn into a humorous performance, and I am eager to see the tale unfold on stage.”
