Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, will be remanded for the next four weeks.

He was arrested for the fourth time on Sunday, and it is feared he will reoffend. After it became clear that he was to remain in jail, he was transferred to a hospital, where he was examined by a doctor. While there, he was visited by his mother, his stepfather, Crown Prince Haakon and his half-sister, Princess Ingrid Alexandra.

Høiby’s defence attorney, Petar Sekulic, told Norwegian news organisation VG, “We take note of the court’s ruling and will consider the appeal issue as soon as Høiby has been given a chance to explain himself and the injured party has been given a chance to explain himself. It is uncertain when the interrogation will be carried out. We do not wish to comment on his position on the question of guilt for the time being.”

Marius Borg Høiby’s trial for 38 other criminal offences, including four rapes, abuse in close relationships, sexually offensive behaviour, and serious drug offences, is set to begin today.
