The son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, Marius Borg Høiby, was arrested on Sunday evening.
According to a statement from the police, he was charged with assault, threats with a knife and violation of a restraining order. They have requested a four-week detention on the grounds of risk of reoffending. His detention hearing is scheduled for this afternoon, but he will not appear in court.
Marius Borg Høiby’s defence attorneys did not wish to comment.
This is the fourth time that he has been arrested. In the earlier instances, he was released a short time later.
His trial for 38 other criminal offences, including four rapes, abuse in close relationships, sexually offensive behaviour, and serious drug offences, is set to begin tomorrow.
