Bishop Erik Varden, Bishop-prelate of Trondheim, and Bishop Fredrik Hansen, Diocesan Bishop of Oslo, have encouraged the faithful to pray for the health of King Harald V of Norway.
In the announcement, they state, “King Harald V is still in hospital receiving treatment. In gratitude for his tireless service to our country and our people, we join with all of Norway in wishing our dear King a speedy recovery. As bishops, we now turn to all Catholics in Norway and strongly urge everyone to pray for King Harald V and his house.”
As an example, they give this prayer from The Missal:
God, all human power is subject to your dominion. Pour out
Your servant our King HARALD V strength and help, and let that people
who are entrusted to him, live under your blessing, in freedom and peace
(Norwegian missal, p. 803, rev.).
This prayer and others should be added to morning and evening prayers, as well as to other expressions of piety.
The last statement from the Norwegian Royal Court stated that there were no significant changes in the King’s health, and the situation remains stable.
