The Danish Royal House has announced the five cities selected to host Royal Run 2026.

The event will take place on Monday, May 25, with activities planned in Ringkøbing, Randers, Middelfart, Helsingør, and Copenhagen/Frederiksberg. Members of the royal family are expected to take part in some of the locations, continuing a tradition that began in 2018.

Royal Run is designed to be inclusive and community-focused. Participants can choose from three distances: 1 mile, 5K, or 10k. Many walk rather than run, and the event welcomes people of all ages and fitness levels. The goal is to celebrate the joy of movement rather than compete or win.

King Frederik launched the first Royal Run to mark his 50th birthday. Since then, it has become one of Denmark’s most popular public events. The 2025 edition drew nearly 98,000 participants across five cities, setting a new record.

The event is organised by “Bevæg dig for livet” in partnership with Danish sports organisations and receives support from several foundations. Registration for Royal Run 2026 opens in October on the official website, royalrun.dk.
