The Prince of Wales arrived in Riyadh on Monday evening.

The Prince of Wales is paying an inaugural visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this week. Prince William arrived on an RAF jet at the King Khalid International Airport around 6 pm Monday evening.

Upon arrival, the Prince was greeted by the Deputy Governor of Riyadh, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz. The Deputy Governor is the nephew of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

In the airport’s Royal Terminal, the Prince of Wales sat for welcoming talks with the Deputy Governor of Riyadh and the British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Stephen Hitchen.

The Prince then travelled to the UNESCO World Heritage Site ‘At-Turaif‘, where William met with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, also known by his moniker “MbS”. At the site northwest of Riyadh, the two heirs to the throne toured the rich history of the Saudi Dynasty’s first capital.

Following their joint tour, Prince William and MbS then enjoyed a private dinner and further discussions.

The three-day official visit will see the Prince of Wales balance a diplomatic tightrope representing King Charles and the United Kingdom.
