Albert II, Prince of Monaco, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have paid tribute to Dr Jane Goodall, who died yesterday at the age of 91.
Dr Jane Goodall was an English primatologist and anthropologist, and she was considered the world’s foremost expert on chimpanzees.
Prince Albert wrote, “It is with deep sadness that H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco has learned of the passing of Dr Jane Goodall, an iconic figure in the protection of nature and great apes. A pioneer, an inspiration, and a visionary, she dedicated her life to safeguarding biodiversity and educating future generations.
“In 2008, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation awarded her its very first Prize for her outstanding commitment to the environment. Only last week in New York, the Prince had the joy of sharing with her a moment of profound humanity and mutual admiration. The Princely Palace pays tribute to an exceptional woman whose legacy will continue to inspire the world.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex told People Magazine, “Dr Jane Goodall DBE was a visionary humanitarian, scientist, friend to the planet, and friend to us. Her commitment to changing lives extends beyond what the world saw, and also to what we personally felt. She held our son, Archie, when he was first born, and showered love and care to those who were privileged to know her. She will be deeply missed.”
