The Duke of Gloucester has a new patronage.

Prince Richard is the new patron of The Cinnamon Trust, which focuses on supporting the elderly and their pets.

The 80-year-old royal accepted the patronage after a visit to the charity in July. This is the first time the organisation, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, has had a royal patron.

Patrick Williams, the Trust’s CEO, extended an invitation to the Duke to become the patron after the July visit.

Williams said about Prince Richard becoming the patron, “We’re honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester as our first Royal Patron. His acceptance marks a significant milestone for The Cinnamon Trust, recognising the compassion and dedication that has shaped our work over the past 40 years.

“We’re confident that His Royal Highness’s Patronage will help us extend our reach and support even more people and their beloved companions.”

The Cinnamon Trust was founded in 1985, and its mission “is to ensure that older people, those living with terminal illness, and their beloved companions never have to face the sorrow of parting from their beloved companion due to lack of support.”
