King to welcome Nigerian state visit

King Charles and Queen Camilla will welcome the first Nigerian state visit to the United Kingdom in 37 years.

The King and Queen will host the state visit at Windsor Castle from 18 March to 19 March. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be accompanied by his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.

The President was welcomed in an audience at Buckingham Palace in 2024, where he met His Majesty.

Further details of the visit will be released in due course.

This is the first incoming state visit by a Nigerian President in almost four decades. Previous visits took place in 1973, 1981 and 1989.

King Charles has visited Nigeria four times – all while Prince of Wales. He travelled to the country in 1990, 1999, 2006 and 2018.
