King Charles joined the environmental organisation Deal With It to pick up trash on a beach in Kent.
The King helped clean up the litter on Walmer Beach near Deal Castle in southeast England on 10 July.
His Majesty donned sunglasses and a suit to pick up garbage with a trash grabber and place it in a large bag.
He also saw a demonstration of a lifeboat being launched and heard from crew members about their work. He was told how they are often called out to help small boats that are often “not seaworthy,” which leads to difficult rescues.
Earlier in the day, the King visited Deal Castle to view the refurbishment work and The Queen Mother’s Garden, which was replanted in 1997 for her 95th birthday. He also met representatives from the 14 coastal towns that make up the Confederation of Cinque Ports.
Deal Castle is the home to the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, and the Queen Mother (Charles’s grandmother) held the title from 1978-2002.
