The Princess of Wales stressed the importance of putting love over profit during her first speech since undergoing chemotherapy last year.

At the Future Workforce Summit in London, the Princess spoke of her passion with the Centre for Early Childhood, citing one “essential truth.”

That truth? Love.

“Love is the first and most essential bond. But it is also the invisible thread, woven with time, attention and tenderness, through consistent, nurturing relationships, which creates the grounded and meaningful environments around a child,” she said.

Catherine said love should be the centre of the home and that “every environment has the potential to shape our hearts.”

The Princess told the 80 guests that home, business, work, family and community should be “built on valuing time and tenderness just as much as productivity and success.”

“As business leaders, you will face the daily challenge of finding the balance between profitability and having a positive impact. But the two are not, and should not be incompatible.”

The Princess of Wales concluded, stressing the necessity of children having respect and safety, saying, “Every act of care creates community because we are all essentially weavers of the same fabric.”
