The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is described as the world’s largest archaeological museum and is located near the Great Pyramid of Khufu at Giza. It houses some 100,000 artefacts, covering seven millennia.
One of the showstoppers is the intact tomb of King Tutankhamun, which is on display for the very first time since its discovery. The museum is expected to attract eight million visitors per year, giving Egyptian tourism an enormous boost.
