Belgium’s Princess Elisabeth is set to return to Harvard University to continue her education this autumn.
The heir to the Belgian throne will be able to return to Harvard after she was caught in the middle of US President Donald Trump’s ban on foreign students attending the prestigious school.
The Duchess of Brabant completed her first year of studies in a master’s program at the Boston Ivy League school, but Trump’s ban left questions on whether the future queen would be allowed to finish her studies.
However, the Belgian Royal Palace has confirmed to Belgian journalist Wim Dehandschutter that Elisabeth can return to the Ivy League school for the autumn semester that begins in September.
The Belgian Royal Palace’s communication director, Xavier Baert, also confirmed the news to Reuters, “I can confirm that, for now, all the conditions seem to be in place for the princess to continue her studies at Harvard.”
The Trump Administration has revoked Harvard’s ability to enroll international students, but a federal judge temporarily blocked the administration from enforcing the rules. The Trump Administration appealed the decision, but the injunction remains in effect. The new semester is due to begin on 2 September.
The 23-year-old is studying public policy after graduating with her bachelor’s degree from Oxford University in England.
