King Philippe of the Belgians made a surprising appearance during a school trip to the Royal Domain of Laeken near Brussels.

The King joined students from two primary schools in the capital as they were touring the palace gardens.

The Belgian Royal Palace released images of His Majesty with the pupils from Congrès Dachsbeck Primary School and the De Droomboom Primary School for a walk around the grounds.

Twice a year, students from primary schools in Brussels are invited to take a biodiversity-themed walk on the Royal Estate of Laeken.

King Philippe took photos with the children while they were on their walk.

The Royal Domain of Laeken contains the Royal Palace of Laeken, which is the official home of the King and Queen of the Belgians.
