King Felipe and Queen Letizia visit Europalia España Festival in Brussels

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain travelled to Brussels to meet their Belgian counterparts at the Europalia España Festival.

The festival is dedicated to promoting the cultural wealth of Spain in Belgium.

The King and Queen began their day at the Royal Palace in Brussels, where they were received by King Philippe and Queen Mathilde. They signed the guests book in the Empire room and had a private lunch together.

In the afternoon, the two royal couples travelled to the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels (Bozar). They were greeted by the President of Europalia, Philippe Vlerick; the General Director of Europalia, Christian Salez; the General Director of Europalia Spain, Max Jadot; the President of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Belgium, Peter De Roover; the President of the Senate, Vincent Blondel; the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Bart De Wever; the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation, Maxime Prévot; the Minister-President of the German-speaking Community of Belgium, Oliver Paasch; the Minister of Public Action and Modernization, Vanessa Matz; the President of the Palais des Beaux-Arts – Bozar, Isabelle Mazzara; the CEO and Artistic Director of the Palais des Beaux-Arts – Bozar, Christophe Slagmuylder; and the Minister of Culture. the Spanish Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium; the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Spain to the European Union, Marcos Alonso; the President of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), José Torres Mora; and the Director of Cultural and Scientific Relations of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Santiago Herrero.

The artistic directors of Europalia and the Europalia Spain 2025 Festival gave an introduction. They then toured the exhibition “Light and Shadow. Goya and Spanish Realism” together. They also met with the performers and the artistic team of Europalia Spain.
