Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand, has died at the age of 93.

The Queen, the mother of King Rama X, died on 24 October 2025 in Thailand.

The Royal Household Bureau announced that the Queen Mother died peacefully at 9.21 pm at Chulalongkorn Hospital.

“His Majesty the King has issued a royal command for the Bureau of the Royal Household to manage the royal funeral with the highest royal honours according to royal tradition. The body will be placed at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace. His Majesty has graciously granted permission for members of the Royal Family and courtiers to mourn for a period of one year from the date of death,” they said in a statement.

Queen Sirikit, who had been battling a blood infection since 17 October, had been unwell for many years following a stroke in 2012 and was rarely seen in public due to her poor health.

She was born on 12 August 1932 as the daughter of Prince Nakkhatra and Bua Kitiyakara. Sirikit married King Bhumibol Adulyadej, a cousin, in 1950. They had four children: Prince Ubolratana, King Vajiralongkorn, Princess Sirindhorn and Princess Chulabhorn.

Sirikit was the Queen consort of Thailand from 28 April 1950 until the death of her husband on 13 October 2016. She was then known by Thais as the Queen Mother.
