Sophie is at it again. Buckingham Palace has announced a new major trip for the Duchess of Edinburgh, during which she will meet with communities and organisations to demonstrate the strength and breadth of the UK-Bangladesh partnership.

Super Sophie, as many have dubbed her for her stalwart approach to royal duties, will once again fly the flag aboard as she embarks on her sixth international visit of the year from 9-11 November.

A three-day visit to Bangladesh will see the Duchess spotlight women’s empowerment with stops at the Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT), seeing the country’s vital role in UN peacekeeping and highlighting the importance of women’s participation in peace and security, as well as at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP), which will celebrate the role of sport in creating opportunities for women and girls.

The Duchess will also hear about the vital protection and support services for women, girls, and families affected by displacement, including ongoing work to strengthen resilience and leadership within refugee communities. A focus will also be on rehabilitation, protection, and inclusion services that help women and children build a future despite displacement.

Sophie is also scheduled to meet with the President of Bangladesh and the Prime Minister’s spouse, Dr Zubaida Rahman, to discuss shared interests in the welfare, protection and the empowerment of women and girls.

The Duchess of Edinburgh is travelling to Bangladesh at the request of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
