A late, very late arrival in Antigua and Barbuda for King Charles as he embarks on the last leg of the autumn tour, to be joined by Queen Camilla.
Three flights down, one more to go. King Charles has arrived in Antigua and Barbuda for what is to be the climax of the King and Queen’s Autumn Tour. Over the past few days, the King has engaged with young people involved in conservation work and earned the moniker “Dancing King” after joining parade-goers at Nassau’s Junkanoo street festival.
Yesterday evening, the King was officially welcomed at VC Bird International Airport.
His Majesty was greeted by the Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, H.E. Sir Rodney Williams; Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chair of the CHOGM 2026 Task Force, Chet Greene; Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation, and Investment, Charles Fernandez; Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier General Telbert Benjamin; and Commissioner of Police of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, Everton Jeffers.
The ceremonial arrival featured the Antigua and Barbuda Royal Police Band playing the national anthems of the two countries, as well as a Guard of Honour.
While in Antigua and Barbuda, Their Majesties will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in St John’s as well as several other engagements. CHOGM is described as the principal forum for dialogue and collective decision-making, which takes place biannually, bringing together the 56 countries that comprise the Commonwealth. The meeting is scheduled to open on 1 November.
A busy day awaits the King ahead. The Royal News Organisation will keep you up to date as the Autumn Tour nears its end.
