Queen Sonja visited the National Archives today to view tributes left in memory of King Harald, with many messages securely stored for posterity.

Queen Sonja paid an emotional visit to the National Archives at Sognsvann.

Many tributes were collected from Palace Square in the days before and after the death of King Harald V. The sympathy messages were then transported to the National Archives. There, staff will review the material, with a number of tributes placed in archive boxes and stored in the archives’ security storage in the mountain.

Today, Queen Sonja had the opportunity to view some of the messages, photographs, homemade tributes and other acts of remembrance at the National Archives.

During the visit, Queen Sonja remarked, “We are lucky to have a national archive, with such dedicated and wonderful people who work day and night on these historical documents.”

At the National Archives, Queen Sonja was given two boxes with a selection of tributes they have collected. “Now I can sit at home and see a little more precisely what the different people have put in,” she later said.
