The Church of Norway is opening its doors all over the country following the death of King Harald V.
Everyone is welcome to light a candle, be together, or just have a chat.
The leading bishop of the Church of Norway, Olav Fykse Tveit, said, “We mourn the passing of King Harald, and feel a deep and heartfelt gratitude for everything he has been to us all, throughout his life and work.”
He added, “It is natural to open the churches during this special time for our country. It can be good to come together in the churches, whether you want to light a candle in silence, say a prayer or talk to someone.”
King Harald died earlier today at the age of 89. The Norwegian royal court announced, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of His Majesty King Harald today. King Harald passed away peacefully at the National Hospital on Friday, August 28, at 6:35 a.m.”
