Princess Aiko is preparing for her second official visit — Singapore in November of this year.

The Imperial Household Agency has announced that arrangements are underway for Princess Aiko, the Princess Toshi, to pay an official visit to the Republic of Singapore this autumn.

The Princess’ visit comes at the invitation of the President, H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Japan and Singapore began formal relations in 1966, following Singapore’s independence from Malaysia.

Most recently, Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko visited Singapore in 2006, on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, as the Emperor and Empress of Japan.

This November, Her Imperial Highness will undertake a second international goodwill visit following a visit to Laos in 2025. Further details will be released in due course.
