King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden visited the NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, on 1 October.

The King visited Belgium alongside Minister of Defence Pål Jonson.

His Majesty was also in Mons to spend time at NATO’s Military Strategic Headquarters, which is where his visit began. There, he met NATO’s Supreme Military Commander General Alexus G. Grynkewich and representatives from all NATO nations and held a private meeting with him, his leadership team and the Minister of Defence.

The King had a conversation with Dutch NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte before receiving a tour of NATO headquarters by Jan Knutsson, Ambassador and Head of Sweden’s Permanent Representation to NATO.

King Carl Gustaf concluded his visit to the Swedish Permanent Representation’s new premises to meet staff and participate in a roundtable discussion about Sweden’s membership in NATO.

Sweden became part of NATO in March 2024.
