When the future Grand Duke Guilllaume of Luxembourg takes the oath of office tomorrow before the Chamber of Deputies, he will do so with this throne behind him.

The throne holds a symbolic place during this act.

The throne was part of a series commissioned for the Great Hall of Knights in the former Berg Castle. It was also used by Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg during significant occasions of her reign. Grand Duke Jean also had the throne by his side when he took the oath of office in 1964.

The throne has now been restored and branded with Guillaume’s monogram.
