Queen Sonja of Norway celebrated the Queen Sonja celebrates UWC Red Cross Nordic’s 30th anniversary in Fjaler.
The Queen of Norway visited the United World College (UWC) Red Cross Nordic to mark the anniversary. She has been the patron of UWC Red Cross Nordic.
On her 12th visit to the school, the Queen attended many events to mark the anniversary, including a bazaar and performances by the students. She then joined the students and students from the Red Cross Haugland Rehabilitation Centre to bake pizzas.
Her Majesty also spent time with former students and the founder of UWC Changshu in China, Mark Wang.
The UWC Red Cross Nordic has 200 students from around 90 countries, 20 of whom are Norwegian. As their name would suggest, the school maintains a close relationship with the Red Cross.
The UWC has 18 schools in 18 countries, including Wales, Italy and Norway. Several royals have attended UWC schools around the globe, including the Duchess of Brabant and Princess of Asturias, studying in Wales.
