Online book of condolence opens in memory of the Duchess of Kent

An online book of condolence has opened in memory of the Duchess of Kent.

People who wish to pay their respects to the Kent family can do so here.

The Duchess of Kent, who was married to King Charles III’s first cousin once removed, Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, died on 4 September 2025 at the age of 92.

A statement from Buckingham Palace read, “It is with deep sorrow that Buckingham Palace announces the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent. Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully last night at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family.

“The King and Queen and all Members of The Royal Family join The Duke of Kent, his children and grandchildren in mourning their loss and remembering fondly The Duchess’s life-long devotion to all the organisations with which she was associated, her passion for music and her empathy for young people.”

The funeral will take place at Westminster Cathedral on Tuesday, 16 September, at 2:00 p.m. local time. The Duchess of Kent was a practising Catholic, and it was her wish to have her funeral held at Westminster Cathedral.
