Spain’s Princess Leonor has begun her training with the Spanish Air Force as part of a three-year military training program.

The Princess of Asturias began her third year with the military on 1 September at the General Air and Space Academy in San Javier.

Upon arrival, the Princess signed the Academy’s Book of Honour, writing, “Today I begin the third stage of my military training at this General Air and Space Academy. I look forward with enthusiasm to this course, during which I will have the opportunity to begin my aeronautical training and, alongside my classmates, learn the practical and theoretical aspects of military aviation.”

The Commanding Officer of the Student Squadron, Carlos Puerta, gave Leonore a tour of the female accommodations, and she then changed into her flight uniform.

Next, she joined the commander of the 792nd Squadron, Alberto Guzmán, for a tour of the various facilities.

The Princess of Asturias saw the flight simulator and even climbed into the cockpit of the training aircraft to receive technical explanations.

As the future Queen of Spain, Leonor has undertaken a year of training in the three branches of Spain’s military, like her father, King Felipe, before her.
