King Carl XVI Gustaf and the Swedish Royal Family hosted the Nobel laureates for a banquet at the Royal Palace.

The day following the Nobel ceremonies, it is a tradition for the King to host the laureates at the Royal Palace alongside members of the Royal Family.

Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill joined the King for the reception and meal honouring the winners.

The evening began with a reception in Prince Bertil’s Apartment for the laureates and their families. They then greeted members of the Swedish government, diplomatic corps, researchers and the Nobel Foundation in the White Sea Ballroom.

The formal banquet followed at 8:00 pm in Charles XI’s Gallery, and as with the banquet the evening before, members of the Royal Family escorted the winners into the room for dinner. They dined on items like glazed celeriac with browned butter and sherry, braised pointed cabbage, tarragon, mushrooms and sherry butter sauce.

The King’s dinner concludes the Nobel celebrations for the Royal Family.
