The Princess of Wales has visited RAF Coningsby for the first time.
The Princess is a Royal Honorary Air Commodore.
Upon arrival, she received an overview of RAF Coningsby’s work on recent operations such as overseas operations in support of NATO. She then met a cross-section of Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) personnel. The QRA’s mission is to protect the airspace of the United Kingdom, which they do alongside RAF Lossiemouth. In connection to this, the Princess also viewed a Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon aircraft.

After this, she visited the Typhoon Future Synthetic Training facility. This facility has only just opened its doors to provide training environments for pilots.
At the end of her visit, Catherine visited the communal space called the ‘Lounge’, where she met with members of RAF Coningsby’s Welfare Team, and a cross-section of RAF Coningsby personnel. She also met with the families of personnel serving at RAF Coningsby.
