Further details have been announced for the annual ‘Together at Christmas’ Carol Service set to take place on 5 December.
The Prince and Princess of Wales will be joined by other members of the Royal Family for the service at Westminster Abbey. While the attendance of the couple’s three children has not been announced in advance, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have attended in previous years.
The fifth edition of the service will celebrate love with 1,600 people in attendance. The event is spearheaded by the Princess with support from the Royal Foundation.
The Princess of Wales wants to highlight the people across the UK who are focusing on love in their communities to bring people together.
According to Kensington Palace, the service will “bring people together to celebrate love in all its forms – whether it’s love within families, through friendships, across communities, or even through powerful moments of connection with strangers.
“In a world that can often feel fragmented and disconnected, love is the force that reconnects us all – spanning generations, communities, cultures, and faiths.”
The Prince of Wales, Kate Winslet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Babatunde Aléshé and Joe Locke will deliver remarks, while a live illustrator sketches snapshots of the atmosphere inside Westminster Abbey.
The Palace shared that “horticulturist Jamie Butterworth will be creating a natural, festive environment outside of the Abbey. His designs will see a collection of stunning British woodland trees in their natural winter state, interwoven with fruits, berries and Christmas trees.”
While the main service takes place in London, 15 community carol services will take place around the United Kingdom throughout December.
The service will air on Christmas Eve as part of the Royal Carols: Together At Christmas special programming on ITV1 and ITVX. It will air again on Christmas morning.
