The funeral arrangements for the Duchess of Kent have been announced by Buckingham Palace.
The funeral will take place at Westminster Cathedral on Tuesday, 16 September, at 2:00 p.m. local time. The Duchess of Kent was a practising Catholic, and it was her wish to have her funeral held at Westminster Cathedral.
Until 15 September, the Duchess of Kent’s coffin will rest in the private chapel of Kensington Palace.
Her coffin will be taken by hearse to Westminster Cathedral on Monday, 15 September. The Rite of Reception and Vespers will then take place on the eve of the Requiem Mass. The coffin will rest overnight in the Lady Chapel.
On the day of the funeral, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other members of the royal family will join the Duke of Kent and members of the Kent family at the Requiem Mass for the Duchess.
The coffin will then be taken by hearse to the Royal Burial Ground at Frogmore, Windsor.
On the day of the funeral, all flags at all official residences flying the Union flag will be half-masted.
